SFYTT from December 20th

I participated in Jen's "Sketch For You To Try". Actually, this sketch was posted here the weekend before Christmas. But things were a little crazy with Christmas and everything, so I wasn't able to get to it until now. I followed this sketch a little better than my previous card. :)

Here is the sketch:

Inspired by a sketch

Happy Tuesday to you! I am so mixed up on my days, so I need to remind myself that it is Tuesday today!! Here is another quick card that I created late last night. I was playing around with this sketch, but it didn't turn out like the sketch. But I am very pleased with the results. I guess that is one of purposes of sketches...to get you started on a design, even though it is not the exact layout.

I used the Wanted stamp set and pulled out some retired DSP (Outlaw) to get my color inspiration. I punched the Scallop Circle twice and offset them to provide some color behind the Very Vanilla Scallop.

I love this banner!!! I have been seeing it on quite a few cards, and I thought it was perfect to go with the running horse!!! It's like the banner is blowing in the wind!!

Ok, what is going on??? I didn't use any ribbon on my card in my previous post, and there is no ribbon on this card!!! I can't believe it...2 cards in a row! I really can create a card without ribbon!!!! And guess what? I have another card to show you tomorrow...and it doesn't have ribbon either!!! I'm sure it will all change soon!!!

Supplies:
Stamps: Wanted, A Little Birthday Cheer
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Really Rust
Paper: Really Rust, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Outlaw DSP
Accessories: Scallop Circle, Dimensionals, Stampin' Sponges, Paper Snips

Enjoy!

Love You Much Card

Hi! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and are getting ready to celebrate a New Year! I am anxious to get back into the stamping world after a little break during the holidays. I was able to get some quality stamping time in today while my son took a nap. It seems like a long time since he has taken a nap with all the excitement around here. He is a little more than 2-1/2 years old, and we had a ball with him at Christmas!! He had so much fun!!

Here is a quick card that I wanted to share with you tonight. Stampin' Up! has a great promotion going on right now until the end of January. It's called the Love You Much Promotion. They have bundled up a few items and offering a 20% discount on the bundle. Items include a stamp set, Designer Series Paper, and a coordinating Punch. It sure is a great bundle. You can see more details here.

On this card, I used Close to Cocoa, Riding Hood Red, and Very Vanilla Cardstock. The striped paper is from the Designer Series Paper from the bundle. I used the Scallop Edge Punch on the RHR cardstock. The image with the "Hugs & Kisses" works wonderfully with the Scallop Circle Punch. I offset a RHR scallop behind this image. The "Love" is colored in with a blender pen and Pink Pirouette ink.

Supplies:
Stamps: Love You Much
Ink: Close to Cocoa, Riding Hood Red, Basic Brown (for the "Love" image), Pink Pirouette (to color in the "Love")
Paper: Close to Cocoa, Riding Hood Red, Candy Lane Designer Series Paper
Accessories: Punches-Scallop Circle, Scallop Edge, 1-1/4" Circle, 3/4" Circle; Dimensionals, Blender Pen

Thanks for visiting today!

My Friend & Framed Project

Happy Sunday! I went over to my friend Rita's house today to make this beautiful framed project!!! I have a little story to tell you first...a few weeks ago Rita sent me an email with a picture of this beautiful frame project attached. She asked if I wanted to get together sometime and make some for ourselves. It was a beautiful project that I never had seen before, so I thought it was a great idea! Well, time had past and we never got together...busy schedules got in the way! But then later, Rita was having a class to make this project and ask if I could come over and make one. Of course, I jumped right on it and said yes!! So the class was today and I brought her an ornament that I made in the previous post. When I got home after making the framed project, I wanted to post the project to my blog. But I first wanted to give credit to the appropriate person who created this beautiful project. I looked close to the attachment that Rita had sent in her original email, and it's the same person who created the ornament that I copied!!! Can you believe it? I thought it was funny that Rita and I both picked out a project by the same person! I guess we both have great tastes!!!!!! LOL! You can see the original frame here. She has a great blog with awesome ideas!

Here is Rita (on the left) and myself:

And here is the framed project that I created at Rita's class. Isn't it just beautiful?

Doesn't this make a great gift? The frame is from Walmart for a whopping $3!!!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend! How many days until Christmas?

Snowflake Ornament

Hi! I can't even take a little bit of credit for this beautiful ornament!! I saw it here, and thought it was beautiful. So I made one myself tonight. It's going to be a small gift for a special friend, who I will see tomorrow. This special friend is another demonstrator, and I feel very fortunate to have her in my life. If it wasn't for Stampin' Up!, I probably would have never met Rita! She is my side-line (which means we have the same stampin' "mom") and we have so much fun when we get together! Rita has invited me to one of her classes on Sunday. I can't wait to show you the project we will be making! I'll make sure to get it posted as soon as I get home!

Another friend of mine, Kathy, is having her annual ornament party next weekend. I think I might make these ornaments for her party. We bring 2 or 3 ornaments to exchange with her friends at her party. We don't have to make them, but I usually at least try to make the ornament or the gift wrapping. Maybe I'll just do both this year!!!

The ornament is a plain glass ball that you can find at any craft store. The "snow" and "hook" are both from Hobby Lobby. I added a little bit of Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the "snow". The picture does not do it justice. It's really pretty in real life. I added Bashful Blue and White Taffeta ribbon from Stampin' Up! to the top of the ornament. Oh, I almost forgot! I cut my snowflake out of a white vinyl sheet (also from Hobby Lobby) from the Snowflakes #2 die on my Big Shot.

I hope you are doing well. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Card #3 - Day-Time Stampin'

Hi! Here is the final card that we stamped at my Day-Time Stampin' this past Tuesday morning. This card is shown on my Stampin' Up Website with a video tutorial on Watercoloring. It's a great tutorial. Please go visit and see it! I changed the card up just a bit. Instead of using Kiwi Kiss, I used Certainly Celery. And I didn't have the little clips that they used, so I tied a little knot and attached it with a Mini Glue Dot.

Hope you are having a great week!

To You & Yours Holiday Cards

I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday weekend! Did you eat lots of turkey and get some shopping done? I ate plenty of turkey and I was out there before 4:00 a.m. on Black Friday, but I wasn't shopping!! I was actually working my retail job! It was pretty funny seeing a huge line of people coming into the store at 4:00 a.m. There were even some ladies who camped out in line at midnight so that they would be first in line! Can you believe it? There are even groups of ladies who wear funny hats. They must do this every year!

It was a very busy week last week. With Thanksgiving on Thursday, Black Friday and my mom's birthday on Friday, and our annual Spades party on Saturday, I was exhausted by the time Sunday came around! Plus I had a sick child and husband on my hands last week! It was a fun weekend though. I love seeing my family and friends!

Unfortunately I didn't get much stampin' in last week, so I was sure to get some stampin' time in this evening. I wanted to share 2 cards with you. I used the To You & Yours set (love this set!!). I added Dazzling Diamonds to my images on both cards. I tried to take a close-up picture of the glitter, but not sure if I was quite successful in showing the sparkle! But it's pretty in real life!
Supplies:
Stamps: To You & Yours, Peaceful Wishes (retired)
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Paper: Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Ribbons Originals Alpine, 2-way Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Sponges, Dimensionals

Supplies:
Stamps: To You & Yours, Canvas (on the Riding Hood Red CS)
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red
Paper: Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Riding Hood Red, Mellow Moss, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Ribbons Originals Alpine, 2-way Glue Pen, Dazzling Diamonds, Dimensionals

I hope you enjoyed these cards. I have another card created to share with you. You can see it here on Tuesday! So come back!

Holiday Stamp-A-Stack cards

Oh boy, it's been a few days since I shared anything new with you. Sorry about that! I was very busy hosting my annual Holiday Stamp-A-Stack. I had sessions on Friday evening, Sunday afternoon, and Monday morning! It was a little busy, but it worked out great for me. I wasn't overcrowded, so I wasn't running around like a wild woman!! It was nice to sit and visit with some of my stampin' friends! Thanks to all who attended! I hope you liked all of your cards!
We stamped 5 different cards twice for a total of 10 cards/envelopes. Details for 3 of the cards can be seen here, here and here.

Following is the 4th card. I was clueless to the fact that this stamp set is retired, until Sunday! It's one of my favorite Holiday stamp sets, so I guess I thought it was still current. This card is much prettier in real life. I added Crystal Effects to the berries. It's so pretty! This is a great mass-reproducible card!

Supplies:
Stamps: Peaceful Wishes
Ink: Bravo Burgundy, Always Artichoke
Paper: Always Artichoke, Bravo Burgundy, Very Vanilla
Accessories: Bravo Burgundy Grosgrain ribbon, Corner Rounder, Crystal Effects, Mini Glue Dots, Dimensionals , Stipple Brush

And here is the fifth card:

Supplies:
Stamps: To You & Yours
Ink: Baja Breeze, Real Red
Paper: Baja Breeze, Whisper White, Ski Slope
Accessories: Scallop Edge Punch, Corner Rounder, White Taffeta Ribbon
I was inspired to create these cards by many cards on other blogs and SCS. Those are my 2 main resources for creating cards.
Thanks for coming back to visit!
Have a great week!

Stamp Club Project #3 - Box in a Bag

Hi! Here is another stamp club project that we created on Friday night. It's a Box in a Bag, and the tutorial for this box can be seen here. They are very simple to make! Go ahead, try one! I used the Autumn Vine DSP from Stampin' Up's mini catalog to make this one. My stampers used different papers to create their own. Some used snowflakes, polka dots, and purple flowers!! They all turned out so cute! Put a little treat inside, and you have a great thoughtful gift to give to that special someone.

The third project for our stamp club can be seen here. We did the second card in this post.

My Holiday Stamp-A-Stack is this weekend. Please let me know if you would like to attend. I have scheduled 3 sessions for your convenience...Friday at 7:00 p.m., Sunday at 2:00 p.m., Monday at 10:00 a.m. I hope one of them will work for you! Contact me today to reserve your spot.

Take care and thanks for stopping by!

Stamp Club Project #1

Hi! When I attended Stampin' Up's annual convention back in August, I purchased a DVD called Workshop WOWs. This DVD included many live presentations by demonstrators, that were taped at various SU! events through this past year. I was inspired by many techniques that were shown. The following card shows a technique called Magic Pastels. This card is very similar to the sample shown on the DVD...with a few tweaks here and there! :)

Here are the directions for the Magic Pastels Technique:
  1. Stamp your image in a light color. For this card, I used Sahara Sand.
  2. Using your Pastels applicators, color your image. The uglier the better!! (Q-tips actually worked better for me!)
  3. Next, you will need to use your Stamp-a-ma-jig and stamp your image again in a darker color, directly over the top of the Sahara Sand image. For this card, I used Chocolate Chip.

So there you have it! It's quite easy!

This was one of the 3 projects that we stamped at stamp club on Friday night. I think the ladies had a great time! There was ALOT of laughter going on! Stamp club is a great stress-reliever for many! After a long week of work or whatever, it's great to relax and stamp, and enjoy an evening with other stampers!!

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you have a great week! And if it's not?? Make it a great week!

Tons of Leaves!

Hi! We had a little bit of play time later in the afternoon, so we played in the leaves! Well actually, RJ played in the leaves, and Joe and I picked them up! I love the Fall, but the amount of leaves in our yard is absolutely crazy!!! What's more crazy is that there are still a few more leaves to fall! Oh well, I really do enjoy this cool, crisp weather. RJ loves to be outside! And he is a BIG helper when it comes to raking leaves!
I'm working on straightening up my stamp area in the basement. Pictures are coming soon! I'll make sure to share with you all when it is presentable! I'm loving my new area with the new countertop and cabinets! Can't wait to show you!

Happy Fall to you!

Snow Swirled Snowflake

Hi! I participated in a Vendor Business Fair with my MOPS group. If you stopped by my table today and are visiting here for the first time, thank you so much!! Congratulations to Kelli for winning my door prize of 15 hand-stamped cards/envelopes!! Enjoy!!

Following is a card that I created when my stampin' friend, Sally, came by a couple of weeks ago. I really love the color combo. If you are wondering where the Baja Breeze Scallop Circle came from, I used one of my Marvy Punches. I have been collecting them for months, buying one each month using my 30% coupon from Archivers!!! I wheeled my background on Kraft Cardstock using my Snowflake Wheel with White ink.

Supplies:
Stamps: Snow Swirled, Snowflake Wheel
Ink: Baja Breeze, White Craft
Paper: Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Kraft, Whisper White
Accessories: Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/8" & 1 1/4" Circle Punches, White Tafetta Ribbon

Do you have some fun things planned for the weekend???? My husband and I are planning a date night. I can't remember the last time we both went out together, just the 2 of us! We are making it an early evening because I have to work early the next morning (Yuck!). But it will still be nice to go out for dinner. We are going to Pujols 5 in Westport. I'll let you know how it goes!

Later!

WSC64

Hi! I have always wanted to partipate in a Sketch Challenge, and I finally did it! I am a big "sketch" person. I find a layout that I like, and I sketch it on a piece of paper. Then I let it pile up in my work area, and go through them when I'm looking for inspiration. There is a blog that I visit quite frequently called Fresh & Fun, and she posts a Sketch Challenge every weekend. Here is the one she posted over this past weekend. You can follow it exactly, or sometimes it's just want you need to get the juices flowing! For this one, I pretty well followed the sketch. Here it is:

Supplies:
Stamps: Tart & Tangy, Thank You Kindly
Ink: Real Red, Real Red & Old Olive Markers
Cardstock: Bashful Blue, Real Red, Whisper White, Summer Picnic DSP
Accessories: Scallop Edge Punch, Scallop Circle Punch, 1 3/8" Circle Punch, Real Red 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon

Here is the sketch:

I'm working on another challenge that I started this afternoon. I'll finish it tonight and get it posted later or first thing in the morning.
Thanks for looking!

Lovely As a Tree-Version 2

Ok, I couldn't leave well enough alone, so I created the Gold/Silver Lovely As a Tree card again. For this card, I added the large tree from the set and punched my sentiment with the Large Oval Punch. Which one do you like better? Here is Version 2:My MOPS group is having a Business Fair for those in our group who would like to share their home business. I'm making different things to sell, and here are a couple of the post-it note holders. I used a retired stamp set and DSP that I just couldn't part with. Colors are Tempting Turquoise and Certainly Celery. Gel pens are from the Dollar Spot at Target.
Oh, I have a question too...Can somebody tell me what happened to October???? It's already November 2nd! Life is just flying by before my eyes! Does anybody know how to slow it down?? I'm looking at my calendar and trying to get some dates together for my Holiday Stamp-A-Stack. My intention was to have my SAS this coming weekend, but my work schedule didn't allow it, plus they didn't have the schedule out until this past Wednesday. That's retail for you!! So I'm thinking about Friday, November 21st and probably on Sunday, November 23rd. And I'm going to add a Day-Time Stamp-A-Stack for those of you who find it easier to attend during the day. All dates will be announced very soon!
Thanks for stopping by!

Embossed Lovely As a Tree

Happy Thursday to you!! It's the day before Halloween and I'm posting a Christmas card! Oh well! I was at Archivers this morning (had to use my coupons!) and saw a card that I thought I could create using my Stampin' Up! stamps. This card is much prettier in real life! The card is Shimmery White Cardstock, then I embossed silver trees on Brushed Gold CS, then embossed a gold sentiment on Brushed Silver CS.
Have a great day!

Our weekend at The Lake

Hi! We went to The Lake this past weekend for a little get-away weekend. RJ went with us, along with my parents. We had a great time, although RJ started getting sick on the first night we were there. But we still managed to have a good time. We lit a cozy fire and played cards at night. Although it rained on our drive down to the Lake (saw some beautiful rainbows though!), we had awesome Fall weather on Saturday and Sunday! We walked around the resort and enjoyed the great weather. After a late breakfast on Saturday, we took a drive to Bagnell Dam, and stopped at a conservation area. Here is a picture of the Dam.
RJ's favorite part was throwing rocks in the Lake. When we said we were going to the Lake, the first thing RJ would say was, "and we throw rocks in the Lake!". So he had a great time and he has a great arm!
And finally, here is a picture from our balcony at the condo. The leaves were not very vibrant, but they were still pretty to look at. There were lot of deep colors!
Hopefully, I will have some things to share this week. So please check back. I have both of my boys home sick today, so hopefully, I'll get some things done. I can only hope that I don't get sick!!!
Have a great week!

Snow-Swirled Trees!

Hi! When Sally came over to stamp on Tuesday evening, I created these 2 cards. Sally was working on completing a set of cards from a class, which was given by another demonstrator friend of ours, Sarah. (Hi Sarah!) I fell in love with several of her cards. I had to recreate a couple of them! If I can remember correctly, I changed it up a bit by adding a rhinestone brad at the top of the tree, and stamping my sentiment in the center. But I stuck with the same colors. Love the colors!!! Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, White, & Kraft.

Then I thought I would create the card again, but only this time, I changed the colors. Isn't it pretty? Don't know which one I like better. I used Mellow Moss, Riding Hood Red, White, & Kraft. Here it is:
The tree is embossed in white on both cards. The tree really pops on the Kraft Cardstock! And the ribbon is just so pretty! Another potential candidate for my Holiday Stamp-A-Stack.

Ok, I'm off to bed now. Good night!

Karen
